The Société des Bains de Mer (pronounced: [sɔsjete də bɛ̃ də mɛːʁ də mɔnako]; SBM; Euronext: BAIN) is a company composed mainly of high-end hotels and entertainment in the principality. SBM is the largest employer in Monaco. It participates actively in the tourism industry in the Principality. Its main activities are essentially oriented towards the high end fields of catering and gambling. SBM profits are down due to the global economic crisis, starting in 2008 continuing on till 2010 where they have leveled off. They are currently trying to bring more Asian and Middle Eastern visitors to Monaco. With the opening of new hotels and bars, like Buddha Bar.
